At Dreamscheme we have a motto 'Young People Can Do Wonderful Things' and over 10 years of operating we have seen many young people who previously got into trouble change their lives, grow in respect for themselves and their area, and gain the respect of the community. In fact some of our youth worker staff have come along this journey transforming their lives, from being young people we worked with to now being the leaders to other young people in their communities.
This year, a key project in Braniel has been the 'Young People Can Do Wonderful Things' project which seeks to tackle the issues of anti-social behaviour, drugs, alcohol, self-esteem, identity, hate crime among young people, while helping them reach their potential.
The project provides young people with positive diversionary activities such as environmental clean ups of the areas, drugs and alcohol workshops, intergenerational activities. We are also keen to provide internal and external educational workshops on a range of applicable topics such as video production. Through collaborating with the PSNI in this project, Dreamscheme NI seeks to build positive relationships between young people and the police. At Dreamscheme, we are proud of our links with the local community and enjoy working alongside them throughout the year.
