New Dream Centre for Young People

On 17 Jun 2016, Peter Weir, Minster for Education officially opened the new Dreamscheme Youth Centre at Four Winds, Newtownbreda.

Dreamscheme is a youth development organisation thats seeks to transform young peoples lives through a programme of community work projects, developmental workshops, positive activities and mentoring relationships.

The new youth centre in the Four Winds, Newtownbreda area provides an excellent and much needed youth facility for the local community and enables Dreamscheme to further develop its programme among young people living in the Four Winds, Newtownbreda area.

At the opening event, a wide range of representatives from statutory agencies, local MLAs and councillors, funding organisations and community leaders joined to celebrate the success of Dreamscheme’s work among young people and to hear about the plans for the new centre.

Dreamscheme is a very different type of organisation that works with those who are marginalised and disadvantaged and has a strong track record of making a difference and changing lives in the community.

I am delighted to be able to officially open this new centre today and to celebrate the success of Dreamscheme and the bright future that lies ahead for it.

The positive difference that Dreamscheme is making in peoples lives is a win, win, win.

It is win in terms of breaking down the false stereotypes that are presented about young people, it is a win in the building of intergenerational relationships and the contribution to communities, and it is a win in the transformation of young peoples lives.

We have seen how Dreamscheme over the past 12 years has helped transform young people’s lives with an increased trust in the positive role models of youth leaders, providing a greater awareness of the dangers and risks associated with the use of alcohol and drugs and reducing anti-social behaviour in the areas we operate.
