The ForWords Project was funded by Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council's Good Relations Fund and targeted 15 young people identified by local Police who were at risk of causing anti-social behaviour, and participating in racist and abusive behaviour. The project was the first step in challenging this group’s attitudes and helping them start a journey to improving their attitudes and relationships with people of different backgrounds.
The project assisted the development of these young people aged 13-18 years old by: - building awareness, understanding and acceptance of diversity in their community. The project also built leadership and communication skills, enabling young people to co-design a spoken word and graffiti project in which they actively engaged and participated in building good relations in their community.
The project encouraged participation in a series of 4 good relations awareness sessions, 4 leadership development and team-building activities, and a 4-week creative project.
